Field & Fringe

Hair, in
natural light.

A full-service hair studio in six Atlanta neighborhoods. Every cut and every color is judged by the window, never under the bulbs.

Most salons check your color under ceiling lights. Then you walk outside and it’s a different color. We start at the window, and we finish there too.

Brass shears, a wooden comb and a bowl of color on linen

Field & Fringe cuts, colors, smooths and extends every hair type. Each studio is built around one big window, and every appointment begins with ten minutes beside it.

The window rule.

Five things that happen in every chair, at every studio, with every stylist.

  • Window first

We look at your hair in daylight before anything gets wet, so the plan matches how it reads outdoors.

  • Dry, then cut

Shape is set on dry hair, the way you actually wear it. Wet hair lies about length.

  • Price out loud

You hear the number before we start. If the plan changes mid-way, the price conversation happens again.

  • Every texture

Straight, wavy, curly, coily. Every stylist trains on all of them, not just one.

  • Take it home

We finish by showing you how to do it yourself, with the tools you already own.

The menu.

Prices are ranges because hair is. Your stylist confirms the exact number at the window before starting.

Starting ranges. Your stylist confirms the exact price at the window.

“I trained under fluorescent tubes for years and kept sending people home with hair that looked right only indoors. So I moved the chair to the window. That’s the whole idea.”
